Bogey, Five O'clock

Just got back from a week stay in San Diego, where the air seemed to put Mike's booger (bogey) production on ten.

So, Mike's inquisitive brain decided to look up some info on said bogeys to learn a bit more... And I came up with this.

Top doc backs picking your nose and eating it

Picking your nose and eating it is one of the best ways to stay healthy, according to a top Austrian doctor.

Innsbruck-based lung specialist Prof Dr Friedrich Bischinger said people who pick their noses with their fingers were healthy, happier and probably better in tune with their bodies.

He says society should adopt a new approach to nose-picking and encourage children to take it up.

Hmmmm....

More-

"And eating the dry remains of what you pull out is a great way of strengthening the body's immune system.

"Medically it makes great sense and is a perfectly natural thing to do. In terms of the immune system the nose is a filter in which a great deal of bacteria are collected, and when this mixture arrives in the intestines it works just like a medicine.

"Modern medicine is constantly trying to do the same thing through far more complicated methods, people who pick their nose and eat it get a natural boost to their immune system for free."

You know what, that makes total sense to me. Sounds like a natural flu shot!

When I was a wee lad, I know for a fact that I ate the occasional booger. You know what, I think I have a stronger than usual immune system... Carrie says that she hasn't eaten one that she can remember, and she catches more stuff than me.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't partaken in the salty treats for thirty years and I probably won't start anytime soon. The reason is the same for why I will avoid brussel sprouts... They disgust me. I'm going to have to see some eye-popping results before I start eating either one.

It makes me wonder about how we go OCD on disinfecting our kids nowadays. Yeah, cleanliness is important, but what if we aren't letting their immune systems develop? I believe George Carlin did a bit on this (that I can't find right now.)

Could bogey eating help? Further study needed...
