More Flybys (Less Vowels)

Genius! [h/t Protein Wisdom]

Lets do an un-announced low flyby in New York City with a 747. Oh, and for added effect lets have a f-16 chase plane right beside it... That wouldn't scare the s%!t out of anyone in that city...

More.

I, as many of you know, love the flybys. I like flyby surprises. Hell that very aircraft (or its twin) buzzed low over my house (LOW!), and I squealed with joy like a one year old. But don't you think it would probably be best to announce that you are going to do one over NYC? ...After 9/11? I'm guessing that memories of that day are still a bit raw for quite a bit of the population there.

Notice I didn't call that airplane 'Air Force One'. Why? Because the president wasn't on it. It was either SAM 28000 (the one that buzzed my house) or SAM 29000. If Obama was flying the F-16 chase plane, THAT would be Air Force One.

Imagine the uproar if the Bush White House did this....

Hmmm, people running in terror from the presidents airplane....

???

I love the 'woods' probably more than your average person, but I have nothing on these folk. Talk about needing a little balance...

Best line -

Bring me to this rock that has, the most incredible life.

Uhh, last I checked, that rock was just a hardened mix of minerals.

This has to be a parody... ...But I have my doubts

Revealed: Antarctic ice growing, not shrinking

Revealed: Antarctic ice growing, not shrinking

What??? No way!

Extensive melting of Antarctic ice sheets would be required to raise sea levels substantially, and ice is melting in parts of west Antarctica. The destabilisation of the Wilkins ice shelf generated international headlines this month.

However, the picture is very different in east Antarctica, which includes the territory claimed by Australia.

East Antarctica is four times the size of west Antarctica and parts of it are cooling. The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research report prepared for last week's meeting of Antarctic Treaty nations in Washington noted the South Pole had shown "significant cooling in recent decades".

Funny how we only hear the 'negative' stuff about the environment. Ice shelves collapsing, and stuff like that. Info like this is just skipped over.

Why? I have one word for you. Control.

Number of Pirates Killed by Presidents

Wow BO is teh badass!

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe the skinny guys ever tried hijacking an American flagged ship during the previous administrations.

Hmmmm.

BTW, the "teh" is on purpose.

Holy Crap!

This is perhaps one most nuts/coolest things that I have ever seen.

Pretty sure that I won't be trying this myself any time soon ever, but it sure is thrilling to watch.

My Desk

I was a little bored as I was starting up the work computer the other morning so I snapped this picture. A wallpaper of Robert Kubica ripping around in the BMW F1.09 that I had to chop to my unusual screen setup.

Things of note...

  1. My new pack of multi-colored 3M stickys. A little reward to myself for using a pad up from start to finish without losing it for the first time in my professional career.
  2. My new cord management program. The things are multiplying. I started out with five (four for the monitors, one for the keyboard) and now I have eighty-three. What the hell. I need to start harvesting some for profit!
  3. Aerosnap. Was ist Aerosnap? AeroSnap ist eine kleine aber mächtige Anwendung, die es Ihnen erlaubt, die Fenster auf Ihrem Desktop alleine per Drag'n'Drop zu arrangieren, in der Größe zu ändern oder zu maximieren.
Translated - Aerosnap is freaking awesome if you have a dual monitor setup. If I grap a window and drag it to the top of my screens, it maximises across both monitors. Drag it to the side, it maximizes in one monitor. Bitchin!

Bush is teh Stupid!

From Bloomberg

“There’s a lot of -- I don’t know what the term is in Austrian -- wheeling and dealing, and people are pursuing their interests, and everybody has their own particular issues and their own particular politics,” he said in response to an Austrian reporter’s question.

I always thought they spoke German.

At least he didn't do this...

Oh wait, Obama said that.

...Can't wait to see what what Letterman, SNL and the rest do with this.

Crickets.

2009 Malaysian GP

What a race, even though they only put in just over half the laps because of a deluge. Jenson Button again was superior, taking both the pole and the win. Looks like my prediction that Brawn GP would be strong was an understatement. They are dominant. JB lost a few places in the start, but kept his cool taking the heavy on fuel Alonso and keeping in touch with Roseberg and Trulli. Some good work and luck with the pit stops and tire choices put and kept Jenson out front.

Mark Webber was really exciting to watch today. His back and forth with Hamilton was a blast to watch. I really like what the cars are doing now with the new regulations for this year. They have increased the already exciting sport even more.

For a good write up and pictures, go here. They even have drawings!

So far I give the 2009 F1 season an A-, my only complaint is the 10 grid penalty given to Vettel for his contact with Kubica in Melborne. Let them race!

Springtime

Beauty! A couple of days ago it was snowing when I went to work, but today I am sitting at the table with the only the screen door between me and the outside for the first time this year.

Last year when I got all excited about the first nice day of the year, it ended up snowing less than a week later, snapping branches off my budding tree. I will try to keep the excitement dialed back this year.

Also, notice in the picture that the screen is intact. Our first year with Clyde he shredded both sliding door screens with his talons. By the end of 2007 they both had holes big enough that he could stick his head through. The screen you see above is the one I replaced it with which was up all last summer. There are a few little marks, but you wouldn't notice them unless you were looking hard. Not really a big deal, I now know how to fix it myself.

Off to go throw some fertilizer down in the front yard. I'm going to just let the back go this year, It won't even be worth spending the money to water.
